To Award or not to Award … That’s the question

For some time I’ve never really been overly involved in nominating our business for industry awards.

However, I’ve recently decided to nominate Nith Valley Cleaning Services for the Outstanding Customer Service category at the DG Chamber of Commerce Business Awards 2026.

This wasn’t something I had originally planned to do. However, I was recently forwarded the nomination link and it happened to coincide with some conversations I’ve been having with team members about the importance of recognising and celebrating success.

All too often in business we focus on what could be improved, what needs adjusted, or what problems need solved. In doing so, there’s always the risk that we forget to acknowledge and celebrate the consistent hard work, professionalism, and customer focus that our team delivers day in and day out.

Entering these awards gives us the opportunity to reflect on the fantastic work that is continually being delivered across the business. It also allows us to look inwardly at how we operate, helping us nurture and grow what we already do well.

Will we win an award, or even make it through to the official shortlist?

At this stage, we genuinely have no idea. But simply entering the process is a chance for everyone in the business to recognise the value of the work they do and the positive impact it has for our customers.

If the judging panel choose to look more closely at what we do, then I’ll welcome any questions or fact-finding. Not only could it highlight areas where we might improve, but it will also shine a light on the many excellent practices our team delivers every day.

So, as they say… watch this space and let’s see how we get on.
